Tamiya Polishing Compound - Coarse

Tamiya 87068 Polishing Compound (Coarse) is a high-performance abrasive paste designed for precision finishing in scale modeling and detailing work. It uses controlled larger micro-abrasive particles to efficiently remove sanding marks, surface imperfections, and uneven textures on plastic, resin, and metal surfaces. Ideal as the first step in a multi-stage polishing system, it prepares surfaces for finer refinement and final gloss finishing.

Formulated for hobby-grade materials, it works especially well after wet sanding (typically 1000–3000 grit and above), helping to level surfaces before progressing to finer compounds. The water-soluble formula allows for easy cleanup without residue, making it suitable for use on both painted and unpainted parts, including clear components.

For best results, it is used as part of a three-stage system with Tamiya Fine (87069) and Finish (87070) compounds to achieve a deep, mirror-like shine on model surfaces and display-quality finishes.
