Spot-On Pigment N°7 - Black Earth
Spot-On Pigment No.7 is a four-colour pigment premix designed to replicate chernozem, the dark, organic-rich soil characteristic of the Eastern European plains. Known in Russian as "chernozem"—from cherny (black) and zemlya(earth)—this iconic soil type is synonymous with the harsh conditions and challenging terrain of the Eastern Front.
Unlike the common perception of chernozem as simply black soil, the real material exhibits a wide range of tones depending on moisture content. When dry, it reveals subtle shades of grey and brown; when wet, it transforms into a deep, almost black earth. This carefully balanced four-colour blend faithfully reproduces that behaviour, appearing brownish when dusted and shifting to a deep dark grey with a subtle brown undertone when used for wet effects.
Ideal for Eastern Front vehicles, artillery, and diorama scenes where authentic terrain representation is essential.
Recommended techniques: dusting, capillary action, weathering liquids, and weathering pastes.
Recommended binders: Alkyd, ENML 2.0, or acrylic binders.
